My hood

I've recently began volunteering at community garden in my neighborhood, Bayview-Hunters Point.
On the way back I took some pics of some cool things round my way.

Check it!

Spike, the caterpillar

Hey Lady!  What are you doing here?
Mary and Joel McClure.  They organize volunteers an manage the Bridgeview Garden.  Sweetest people ever.  Mary gave me tomatoes, sage, rosemary and mint from the garden today.

Bayview-Hunters Point is a historically Black neighborhood.  Although it is gentrifying, as is most of SF, there is still a thriving, Black community in large part because of churches, mosques, and community organizations  keep people connected.
Gonna walk thru that Pearlgate
Nation of Islam Mosque on 3rd Street
Watermelon anyone?
In the Summer and Fall there is a man who always sells watermelons on Third St and Revere St.

  1. I love this! Erin you are awesome! That caterpillar photo really struck me; it's well composed!! I miss volunteering back home; where I am in Japan there aren't many opportunities to volunteer without good Japanese...

  2. Thanks Alex! My fave is the caterpillar photo as well. Bummer that you can't volunteer but I imagine that that you are constantly discovering cool new things to do! How is Japan?

    1. :) There's a fair number of things to do yeah! Mainly I like just exploring by bike and by eating. These are recent themes wherever I go worldwide! I'm taking on my Japanese studies in earnest, and also revising my latest five-year plan, so I'd say Japan life is good for me! :)
